Pastor Jeff grew up in Sacramento, California, the son of Bruce and Marlin Ogden and was baptized as an infant at Fremont Presbyterian Church. Through the ministry of the youth leaders at Fremont Presbyterian and particularly a Bible study on the Gospel of Mark, the person of Jesus became real to me. Jesus’ demand for total loyalty to himself became impossible for me to explain away or deny. In May of 1989, two weeks before graduating high school, I submitted to him as Lord and Savior.
He graduated with a BA in English from U.C. Davis, attended graduate school, started work in the family business, was married, and wrestled with Jesus’ call on my life. Eventually it became clear he was called to the Gospel ministry. All of this led to his attending Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, in Massachusetts. While at seminary, for the first time he saw the Bible as a unity, calling for faith in Jesus Christ. He also came to the love the beauty and truth of the Reformed tradition, especially as expressed in the Westminster Standards and the Heidelberg Catechism.
His goals are to be the best man for Christ he can be, a good husband, a good father, a leader in the Church who always points people to Christ, who faithfully discharges the duty to preach and teach the whole counsel of God to his people.
PASTOR TONY CONRAGAN, CLP: Pastor Tony Conragan has a passion for youth ministry and evangelism. Tony has served in the church as Elder and Deacon and currently leads several youth programs at the church. The focus of Tony’s ministry is enabling our youth to become young men and women of faith through knowing Jesus Christ and applying his teaching in their lives. On Sundays Tony can be found in the A.V. booth serving as the audio video tech, assisting with worship by preaching, praying or doing outreach ministry with the youth.
CINDY LIGGETT, Preschool Director: Born and raised in Paso Robles, California, Cindy says that she never graduated preschool but did attend college. In San Luis Obispo she earned an AA degree in Early Childhood Education.
She and Dan married in June of 1984 and moved to Truckee later that year. They had vacationed in the Tahoe area and wanted some adventure in their lives. They lived in the area for 2 years before moving away and returning in 1992. God had an amazing way of placing her where he wanted her to be!
He was also true to His word. In Ephesians He promises to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think. After years of trying to get pregnant and trying to discern His will between fertility treatments or adoption, He delivered a beautiful baby girl to their door step. The whole process and the joy have gone beyond what she and Dan would ever have dreamed!October 17, 2002 Heather Dawn Liggett was born in San Luis Obispo. The next day they were holding her in their arms.
Early in life, the Lord gave Cindy a passion for children. While in High School she volunteered in preschools, kindergarten classes and youth groups. She feels blessed to work in a field she loves. She embraced the roles of preschool teacher and assistant to the Director – but feared becoming a Director herself. She had determined that God had gifted her to work with the kids but not in administration. Funny how God works. The Village Church leadership felt the best use for one wing of the building would be as a Christian preschool. Although the demographics pointed to “NO”, the leadership felt God leading them to pursue the idea. Pastor Dick asked if she would organize the program and the preschool opened its doors in August 2003. After two years in operation there was a waiting list! So much for demographics – God is the one who truly knows!!
Cindy believes that a relationship with Jesus Christ is what moves us through life’s journey. Her message to potential clients: We cover the academics, but our main goal is to have the children who go through this ministry know Jesus as their Lord, Savior and Friend.
ANN SCHOFIELD, Financial Administrator: Ann has been part of the church staff since April, 2006 when long-time friend, Charlene, asked if she would consider taking on the Office Manager position. Ann was seeking a concrete way to serve our Lord and Savior and Charlene provided the answer. She feels thoroughly blessed to be working with the God-inspired and Christ-led people who make up the leadership of The Village Church.
Ann graduated with distinction from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. from the School of Environmental Science. An entrepreneur by nature, she has owned and operated a number of businesses, worked on cruise ships, sold commercial properties and yachts. She and George are rabid sailors and lived aboard their sailboat, Annie’s Song, for nine years. They spent five of those years sailing the west coast of the U.S. and Mexico.
She and her husband George retired and returned to Lake Tahoe after being away for twenty years.
After working in office positions for many years, Anne (pronounced Annie) felt a calling and an answer to prayers to come work for the church.
Anne graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fresno State University with a B.S. She has worked in several different office settings including a rescue mission, accounting office, and a human resources and data security office.
